Dangerous Goods by Sea

HP Training & Consultancy has developed a training program that meets the requirements of the IMDG Code. At the end of the course candidates will be able to use, interpret and implement all of the requirements of the IMDG for the safe transport of dangerous goods by sea. The course concludes with a written examination which entitles successful candidates to a certificate of competence.

Dangerous Goods by Sea - £450.00 plus VAT

Shore based personnel such as those who: classify dangerous goods; pack dangerous goods into packages; mark, label or placard dangerous goods; pack/unpack CTU's; prepare transport documents for dangerous goods; offer dangerous goods for transport; accept dangerous goods for transport; handle dangerous goods in transport; or are otherwise involved in the transport of dangerous goods should attend this course. See IMDG Code 1.3.1.1.

Course Content 

  • Detailed interpretation and review of the current IMDG Code.

  • Shippers' responsibilities.

  • Limitations: Limited and Excepted quantities.

  • Classification and Identification: the nine hazard classes with their main criteria, the alphabetic list and precedence of hazards table, special provisions, not otherwise specified (n.o.s.) entries, mixtures and solutions.

  • Packaging, Marking and Labeling requirements: UN specifications, limited quantities, compatibility and segregation of packages and overpacks.

  • Procedures: loading, storage and inspection and Emergency schedules.
